Setting the Vision, going for the goal

This is one of the scariest things I’ve done musically speaking, and I was once on television in front of 10,000,000 watching me sing. What I’m referencing is that I am putting myself out there asking for help. I’ve thought about this idea for years, but never had the guts to pull through with it. If you don’t know already, I’ve announced that I am raising $15,000 to record a full-length album. This is a lot of money, and it keeps me up at night thinking about how I’m going to do this. But I know in my hear this is the right thing to do.

Over the years, the music industry has changed dramatically. The days of signing undiscovered artists with no following are over. Record labels are now looking for established artists with at least 100,000 followers on Instagram, and who have made popular playlists on Spotify. My hopes of being an indepenent artist and being discovered by a label are minimal to non-existsant. So instead of waiting for a label to find me and give me my dream album, I’m taking the reigns and doing it myself.

That means I’m going to be the one writing the checks. I’ll be writing and choosing the songs. I’ll be the captaining steering this project to its destination. Do I have experience doing this? Yes. Has it ever been on this scale. Absolutely not. For my in house E.Ps and singles, I’ve relied on favors and discounts from friends to make quality products. I’m so very proud of those projects, but I am looking forward to not being hindered by budget when it comes to making creative decisions. If I couldn’t afford real drums, I’d use loops or software to make them. Can’t afford graphic design? I’d use Canva and do it myself. These are just a few examples of how hard it is to make a project as an independent artist. But it’s that’s much more rewarding when the project is finally released, and you can smile knowing you did it yourself. For this project however, I want to lean on others to help me make it. I want to find a producer that believes in the project, and brings something to the table that I can’t. I want to get the best studio musicians to brings these tracks to life. I want a PR team that will strategize how to get this record into the hands of listeners. I want to make the dream team album I’ve been looking to make my whole life.

This will be my first full-length album, and I am going to make it as if it will be my last. I don’t know if I’m ever going to get this opportunity again, but I’m going to make the most of it. And that’s why I am asking you, the reader of this blog, to think about donating to my campaign. There are cool rewards and opportunities that you can take part in if you contribute to the campaign, and believe me, every dollar counts. You can visit the link below to view my kickstarter campaign, and possibly help me acheive a life long dream. I hope you’re a part of the journey. Much love my friends.
